Cafés, hotel lobbies, your client's office or a booked meeting room — each fits a different kind of conversation.
Cafés: fine for a first conversation
An informal first meeting in a café is normal and often the right choice. It stops being the right choice as soon as you need to present something, discuss numbers, or have a conversation nobody at the next table should hear.
Noise is the practical limit. Most café meetings lose the second half of the hour to it.
Hotel lobbies and restaurants
A hotel lobby handles a longer, more formal conversation better than a café and works well for visitors staying nearby. It is still a public space: no screen, no whiteboard, and no privacy.
Your client's office
Going to the client is a courtesy and removes their travel. The cost is that you meet on their terms, in their schedule, with whatever equipment their room has. For a decisive meeting, a neutral, well-equipped room is often worth proposing.
A booked meeting room
For interviews, pitches, negotiations and anything confidential, a booked room is the only option that reliably delivers privacy, a screen, a whiteboard, reliable internet and a proper welcome for your guests.
